I found myself asking random people, “What do you want?” I don’t think I was the first person to ask
the question, but it seemed I only got one of two answers.
“World peace…” and “$10
million”
The sad thing is neither answer is honest.
Both answers reflect what we think is expected of us…
Both answers reflect what we think others want us to want…
Both answers are given with the no expectation of ever
seeing them come to fruition…
Neither answer is honest…
So let’s dispense with the charade and answer the question.
What do you want?
Honestly?
Yeah, honestly…
I want my folks to be proud of me…
I want a better marriage…
I want a marriage…
I want kids…
I do want money but not like millions… enough to
pay off my debts…
I want to find my parents…
I want to quit my stoopid (stupid) job…
I want to learn to fly…
I want to see Paris…
I want to study art…
I want to be famous…
I want to retire on a tiny, isolated private island…
I want to be loved…
I want to feel happy…
I want the pain to stop…
I want to matter…
I want to make a difference…
I want to stop wanting…
I want to want what I already have…
